SAF111: Basic Safety in the Golden Eagle Wyrkshop: Laramie Campus 
is an introductory online, self-guided  workshop for the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagle Wyrkshop: Laramie Campus makerspace. Immediately after signing up, you'll receive an email with the link and passcode to access the course. SAF111 can be found by enrolling in your local instance of the Maker Access Pass and navigating to Complete a Workshop Safety SAF111: Basic Safety in the Golden Eagle Wyrkshop: Laramie Campus.  Your quiz access code is SAF111_8ei32q. You'll need to attend this course either in-person or online before you can use any equipment at the makerspace. By the end of the course, you should have a firm handle on:

  • What makerspaces, makers, and maker culture are
  • The mission of our makerspaces
  • How the Maker Access Pass (MAP) program works
  • What you can (and can't) do in a makerspace, including:
    • general workshop rules & policies;
    • food, drink, and material policies;
    • makerspace equipment policies.
  • Makerspace-specific safety rules and emergency procedures, including:
    • marked zones within our makerspaces,
    • PPE requirements in those zones, and
    • how to read safety cards.
  • Important safety rules & regulations
  • Emergency procedures

Please make sure to enroll in the Maker Access Pass to ensure you receive a badge at the end of this course. You can use your badges to track what you've learned, show potential employers, and (after earning enough badges) even receive fun perks. All of our equipment, hardware, and software requires that you complete SAF111 before use.
