Thanks for your interest in EE101: Intro to Soldering!

This is a quick online, self-guided workshop at the University of Wyoming Innovation Wyrkshop makerspace, and introduces you to the basic techniques behind soldering. Immediately after signing up, you'll receive an email with the link and passcode to access the course.

If you were to take apart any electronic device that contains a circuit board, you’d see the components are attached using soldering techniques. Soldering is the process of joining two or more electronic parts together by melting solder around the connection. Solder is a metal alloy and when it cools it creates a strong electrical bond between the parts.

By the end of the workshop, you should have a firm understanding of how to start soldering using a small soldering practice kit. You'll also better understand the types of applications that may require a soldering iron.

Please make sure to enroll in the Maker Access Pass to ensure you receive a badge at the end of this course. You can use your badges to track what you've learned, show potential employers, and (after earning enough badges) even receive fun perks. Almost all of our equipment requires training and badges before use.
