JEX101: Intro to Construction 
is an introductory online, self-guided  workshop for the University of Wyoming Innovation Wyrkshop makerspace. Immediately after signing up, you'll receive an email with the link and passcode to access the course. SAF101 can be found by enrolling in your local instance of the Maker Access Pass and navigating to Complete a Workshop Safety > SAF101: Basic Safety in the Innovation Wyrkshop. You'll need to attend this course either in-person or online. You can sign up for in-person or virtual instruction with the DVR Coordinator, Madison by emailing mgraulty@uwyo.edu

By the end of the course, you should have a firm handle on:

  • The opportunities there are in construction as far as pay, benefits, and job outlook. 
  • The components of Apprenticeships and your RYAD Pre-Apprenticeship. 
  • An overview of various construction trades. 
    • Carpentry and Woodworking
    • Earthwork and Heavy Machinery
    • Electrical
    • Drafting/CAD 
    • Fabrication/Machine Maintenance 
    • Concrete 

Please make sure to enroll in the Maker Access Pass to ensure you receive a badge at the end of this course. You can use your badges to track what you've learned, show potential employers, and (after earning enough badges) even receive fun perks. All of our equipment, hardware, and software requires that you complete SAF101 before use.
