Thanks for your interest in FDM150: Intermediate Ultimaker 3D printers. Please note that this is an online, self-guided workshop. Immediately after signing up, you'll receive an email with the link and passcode to access the course. FDM150 can be found by enrolling in your local instance of the Maker Access Pass and navigating to Complete a Workshop > 3D Printing > FDM150: Intermediate Ultimaker 3D Printers.

FDM150 is an intermediate 3D printing workshop for the University of Wyoming Innovation Wyrkshop makerspace. You'll need to attend this course either in-person or online before you can use the Ultimaker 3D printers at any of our participating MAP makerspaces.  By the end of the lesson, you'll have a firm handle on how to operate Ultimaker 3D printers, and will be able to access Ultimaker printers at any available MAP facility.

As part of the course, you will learn:

  • The basics of 3D printing
    • What 3D printers are
    • How 3D printers work
    • Pros and cons of 3D printing
    • General 3D printer anatomy
  • How Ultimaker 3D printers work
    • Ultimaker anatomy
    • Slicer software
    • Slicer tips and tricks
  •  Desktop 3D printing best practices
    • Loading, unloading, and storing filament
    • Preparing to use a Ultimaker 3D printer
    • Starting your print and monitoring its progress

Please make sure to enroll in the Maker Access Pass to ensure you receive a badge at the end of this course. You can use your badges to track what you've learned, show potential employers, and (after earning enough badges) even receive fun perks. Almost all of our equipment requires training and badges before use.

We offer additional online workshops each month, but you can sign up and take them any time. Once you register, you'll be emailed the passcode that will provide you with access to the course.
