Thanks for your interest in using the Innovation Wyrkshop woodshop! This comprehensive three-part class covers SAF150: Woodshop Safety, WOOD101: Tool best practices, and WOOD106: Learning bench saws. Completing this 90 minute course awards you three badges.
You'll need to attend this course before you can use the woodshop at the Innovation Wyrkshop makerspace. By the end of the course, you should have a firm handle on:
- Proper woodshop PPE, additional strict woodshop safety rules, and best practices for avoiding accidents.
- How to identify and safely use drills, impact drivers, drill bits, speed square, c-clamps, bar clamps, Dremel 7300 and 4300.
- What a pilot hole is and why they’re important .
- What a countersunk screw is and how to make a countersink.
- Applications and use for wood glue
- How to hook up pneumatic equipment to compressed air in the shop
- How to identify and safely use miter saws and scroll saws and associated equipment
Please make sure to enroll in the Maker Access Pass to ensure you receive a badge at the end of this course. You can use your badges to track what you've learned, show potential employers, and (after earning enough badges) even receive fun perks. Almost all of our equipment requires training and badges before use.
